Relativstic Beauty Curves

Yesterday I jotted a little graph to visualize the difference between how we percieve and communicate beauty, Jessica Hagy & Kathy Sierra style. I admire their work, they make you see relationships in the world in a playful, stunningly straightforward way. You can get their point in a glance.

So here you go, the Relativistic Beauty Curves:



Attraction depends on a lot of factors, like alcohol and social pressure. If you are just a normal guy, you won't start dating a moderately attractive (ie. ugly) girl, even though you like her, because it's icky, right? Well at least in case you're a jerk, and your friends are jerks as well. But let's assume it's true, because it's likely that it is, anyway. Nudge-nudge-wink-wink.

I guess I don't have to explain the effects of beer.

Notice how well these exponential/logarithmic curves seem to fit standard male behaviour even after the crosspoint. When you're drunk you cannot really see the difference between a fairly nice girl and say Eva Longoria or for example my girlfriend. So you quickly reach a maximum desire value, and after it's pretty flat.

Likewise, on the macho curve, once the hotness of a chick hits some sort of a treshold, from which point it is socially accetable and even cool to like her, you'll make remarks about some specific parts of her body (and your ideas about using them) as often as you can, just to let other males know you're one of them. Even though you're not really into big boobs, you've got to say you are, in order to avoid being called something like a "pussy", or whatever the kids are saying these days. Tell me if I'm wrong.

Man, I'm glad I'm not 16 anymore.

Anyway, this stuff with the graphs is so nerdy that if you liked it, I'd guess you haven't been laid in a week. Is that correct? (I liked it a lot, actually)
